self-titled: ^_^

banned from the end of the world

just saw minority report.  it was fantastic.  and i can't believe spielberg was behind it.  no smarmy morality plays here.  the whole thing was, on a moral level, pretty damn ambiguous.  spielberg took another sci-fi short story, one with a certain bleakness and despair to it, chock full of moral ambiguity and turned it into a fucking carnival where a walking teddy bear had a more sympathetic plight than the main character because hey, at least the teddy bear was designed from the get go to be a joke and wasn't dealt with such a heavy "i'm gonna make you cry" hand.  spielberg learned his lesson and took minority report's source and just gave it a spectacular treatment.  god it's fucking great, go see it.  looks like spielberg is back to enjoying making movies, rather than enjoying making audiences react.  huzzah.  that's all i'll say about MR.  just go see it.

today i did the work thing and at lunch went down into cambridge for some wanton money spending.  purchases:

the hot hot heat ep, which i cannot tell you to GO BUY anymore because it is about the most awesome thing i've heard in very long
the new hefner ep: great stuff, with a lot of drum machines... yay!
john vanderslice - mass suicide cult figurines, the new GBV, and then two matador comps.  Five cds for umm, 14 bucks i think.  should be fun.  the only thing i've listened to is pavement's cover of "killing moon," a song i've been listening a lot to since i saw it in the opening of donnie darko, so finding a pavement cover of it on what's up, matador was a happy surprise.  these comps should be fun, matador is a pretty keen label.  started off with pavement and pavement type groups, but more recently has added a lot of electronica and hip-hop to the label, as well as shit like mogwai.  fuck they're all over the place: pavement, gbv, superchunk, yo la tengo, boards of canada, cornelius, unwound, modest mouse, matmos, mary timony, mogwai, jsbx, liz phair, arsonists, fuck, come, sleater-kinney, jsbx, cat power, spoon, pizacatto five, it's just like fuck already, pick a sound.  but hey, more for me i guess.

check this out for a great non-interview with hot hot heat.  it's entertaining.  it's all about wearing tight pants and being gay.  that's really it: tight pants and gay jokes.  it's funny as hell.  go read.  and then, go here and listen to the ep's weakest track.  actually, start listening and then read the interview.  why they put the weakest track up, i don't know.  it's still great, but shit, the other 4 are just like revelatory.

hmm, on the t yesterday picking up my car, i realized something: i'm really beginning to appreciate a good ass on a girl.  this chick got off the t and i was looking at her ass the whole way off, then i followed her ass off the t, to the corner, and across the street, until the t cruelly took me away from it.  and it was nice.  i would certainly not mind more good asses in my viewing future.

i vow to you, readers of self-titled.net, that i will never again eat a meal at the ground round.  it was never very good, but it was passable, and got steadily less passable throughout the eyars.  well, tonight i went with adam and sean and it was without a doubt the worst meal i've ever had in a restaurant, i had one bite of my french dip and had to send it back and there wasn't one single thing on the menu i wanted.  so i got the usually fuck-up-proof cinammon dippers and even they were off - overcooked a bit.  ground round has shitty food, it always has, and i wash my hands of the whole thing.

"here" by pavement is an awesome awesome song.

ok that's it for me, it's 3.5 and i'm gonna stay up and play with music some more.  oh, someone get me a drum machine for my birthday.  also buffy plz kthx i korea, kekekeke ^_^ huk.
