so i've seen a few more episodes of wild thornberries recently than i would like, but today i was thorougly entertained.
If you aren't familiar with the wild thornberry formula, allow me: this family are nature documentarists, there are two sisters, a british talking monkey who wears a shirt, and a little kid who i think is feral. I'm not sure why they have a shirt-wearing monkey, nor am i sure why they have a little wild boy travelling with them. What i'm also unsure about is why eliza, the main daughter, has the ability to confer with animals. Anyway, in the episodes i've seen, some animal or animals is/are in trouble, eliza talks to them and tries as hard as she can to help them. this usually involves getting them food or giving them a haircut or something. and it's touching and lame and what not.
So this morning i wake up and start watching, and it's the same old shit. there's some little baby cheetah cub who's hungry and thirsty and has lost his mother. eliza goes out, feeds him a little water, and they set out to look for mom. the search eventually lands all of them up in a tree chased by jackals, and then the mom comes and saves the day. eliza climbs down the tree and is all "oh i'm so glad you came, so happy to see you reuinited with baby, i love nature" etc. then the mom and baby cheetah try to eat eliza because they're hungry and that ruled.
so that was this morning, then the rest of the day was mcdonalds, buffy and video games.
this weekend saw the bostonians show on friday, met at citysides first, show then to the party after. Pretty fun time all in all. Saturday was me sitting around for the bulk of the day, including a nap that almost took me out of the evening's runnings. but then i went over to edmonds for sean darren, et al's white trash party. I drank a couple 40s. then i made a brilliant move wherein a dropped in 14 lake on the way home. partied there for a while, ended up on the couch listening to sigur ros.
and then today. and boy am i tired.
OH yeah, a nick cave album found its way into my daily list of potential songs i hear. and it's great stuff. the album is no more shall we part and it rox0rs. just these gorgeous dirgey and dramatic songs. the problem with me liking this so much is that the dude is proliferic as hell. i hate chasing down back catalogs.
ok insomniac and sleep

All right. Try to follow me here.
Eliza was granted the ability to speak to animals after saving some defenseless animal from a pack of wild boar, I believe. A shaman who lives in the jungle gave her the ability with the explicit instructions to tell no one. If she told anyone, she would lose her power forever.
In the movie, she tells to save her sister's life but the shaman restores it after she shows courage in her dealings with the elephants without the use of her ability.
Her best friend is the monkey (Darwin) and her little brother is Donnie (voice of Flea) who they found in jungle and have raised, although Donnie seems unable to grasp the English language despite being a Thornberry for some time now.
Hope that helps.
