end radio silence
well, there obviously was a problem with the old host. they said i didn't pay bills. the reality of it was that they were sending the e-mails saying "omg the card we have on file is expired" to a dead e-mail account... instead of the account that gets daily activity on their mail servers... genius.
so i'm back in action with a new host and more amenities, although i still can't install and use bitchx with my shell access. oh well, thank god for port 13.
there probably are a number of kinks remaining with the site, since the cgi stuff got all screwed up on the transfer. oh well.
i spent last week not working and instead watching tv and playing video games, leaving the house only to purchase more video games. it was fun, i wasn't nearly as productive as i had hoped.
on tuesday i saw triplets of belleville with john and dimitrios, and it was splendidly bizarre. i however missed the song, which was like the one thing i really really wanted to see. c'est la vie.
on friday katie and i went to see the jesus movie, but it was insane and sold out and full of candle wielding asians. so instead i played poker, and i had a good time.
saturday i... played video games? yeah. until katie and i went again to see jesus on the big screen.
the movie sucked. jesus is an awesome dude, who said and did wonderful and amazing things. by watching this movie however, you would not be aware of such things. what you would be aware of however, is that jesus got brutally beaten. a lot. like really badly.
aside from some wonderfully done beating, the movie was completely lacking. lacking of a good story, lacking of good characters, lacking of emotion, lacking of coherence, lacking of anything that may provoke thought. but it had a lot of beating.
see, i'm all for a good jesus movie. we watched the last temptation of christ the following day, which is a very spiritual movie, but it's also a good movie, and doesn't rely on brutality to get its point across. and even if it did rely on brutality to get its point across, at least its point wouldn't simply be brutality. so i'm all for jesus and his teachings and his sacrifice. mel gibson however apparently is not, and decided to take his money and his considerable star power to create a piece of base propoganda. watch this, see the chunks of flesh ripped out of our lord... those chunks of flesh were so you could live! do you remember braveheart? i made that movie and you love it! you love it like you should love christ because of the severe beating he received. and now, in my new movie, the severe beating of christ, you to can see what william wallace knew all along: you should be a better christian because jesus had chunks of his flesh ripped out.
and from the movie, that's the only reason. As Katie mentioned, the passion of christ is little more than a movie to show in catechism. and she's right, it's nothing but a standard christian training video. except most of the videos i saw in CCD actually taught me something of value.
in summation: fuck you mel gibson i hope you die.
the oscars were super boring and i missed jack black and will ferrel.
i work at staples now, it's really cool. i think i like where i work, who i work with, and more importantly what i do. and the 30 minute drive affords me a chance to listen to howard in the morning and actually listen to music on the ride home. and now i will get back to organizing music so i have fun new things to listen to tomorrow. i'll call it the new modest mouse album.
end transmission.
