a heart without a mind

yikes i'm so tired, and sick, and ill be in bed no later than 10.

week one of the war is over, and i'm largely unaware except i know that the baghdad cam makes scary noises with it's 4:30am there. Also, i hear there are helmet-mounted soldier-cams, which is just silly. My opinions on the whole operation are pretty much non-existant, but i think it's retarded that the whole thing is basically just a media event.

also, dawson's creek right now makes me want to puke. anything involving dawson and his "film" is bad enough, throw in some loser high school kid and good god. oh everyone goes to capeside and sees younger versions of themselves and their friends. lol.

i'm going to spend the rest of my waking minutes listening to song clips in hopes of finding shit to buy. because buying german electronic music will help our boys overseas!

oh yeah, weekend update

friday: happy hour, god knows what but i was out way too late and slept till like 3

saturday: powerhour with katie and mike=fun times, mary anne's thereafter = also fun, walking through the seminary late at night while drunk and thinking of vampires = priceless.

wednesday week

if i weren't so goddam tired all the time, i'd write in this more. i'd still have nothing to say, but the frequency at which i didn't see would be much higher.

Monday was ridiculous, i was at work happily working, when tony called me up saying he and a buddy were going to porter belly's for a guinness before the big night and that i should come. Hey, a quick beer after work, no problem.

I went there, had some rounds, and then some more, then grabbed some pizza and tried to go to green briar so i could see the finbar doyle experience, but there was a $20 cover, so we went back to porter belly's, stayed a bit, grabbed some forties at the liquor store, back to 14 lake, then to espresso royale for some after closing fun. i was all set to go to bed at 11, granted i was drunk, but hey, it was still 11. then adam and his friends made me do some shots on "my way out" which turned into "going to espresso royale for god knows how long then back to 14 lake for some more and then going into work the next morning and getting two powerades first thing." but it was a fun night.

poker on tuesday i only lost $20.

was supposed to go out last night, but was so tired my soul hurt, and besides, there was good tv on. katie and i, from seperate rooms, watched the first episode ever of dawson's creek which was just goddam awful, but it was fun because we were screaming across the hall to each other about how much it sucked. then we did the same for the war coverage.

i dunno, i think it's pretty badass we're at war. sure there'll be some casualties, but really, most of them will be freaking friendly fire, and if our soldiers can't learn to not shoot themselves, well then hey, that's their own problem. gulf war one was a joke, this will be a joke too. but, it should be better. seriously though, wtf am i going to talk to my grandchildren about? all war talk aside, my generation needs SOMETHING big to talk about. the wtc attack was surely a huge event, but it was just that, an event that happened and then we quickly moved on. the gulf war is trivial and almost forgotten, and aside from the protesters who closed down boylston street today, this war is already nothing more than a media event. I think history as my generation learned it is over. Perhaps it's just that i can't get the scope of what's been going on because i'm living through it, but the past is full of good story arcs. my generation is nothing but some forgettable presidents, the clinton scandal, a couple "wars," the simpson trial, a giant fucking plane crash, and reality tv. I think the political world has just become too subtle and complex to fill a chapter of a 5th grade text book.

ok enough of that. i heart buffy. i also need to make a power hour cd for me katie and mike because for some reason katie and mike decided they wanted to drink during the weekend i wanted to sit around and soberly play video games. sigh.

helpless

wow, been some time since i wrote in this, and really, i could give a damn.

let's see, what's new? hrm. i don't know that i can really think back further than this weekend.

I was all ready on Friday to go home, and spend a quiet night playing my video games whichi neglect far too much. I even stayed at work a little longer than usual so as to avoid the temptation. then, as i'm walking down newbury street i get a call from Tim calling me to happy hour, it was late, there was probably a line, and unless a D line was waiting for me, i was going to pass. I walk down to the station and there is a friggin D line doors open, inviting me in. every time i think i'm out, something calls me back. dammitall.

the line was actually quite managable, just long enough for meto finish my aim is true, then i went in and beered it up. usual crowd, usual happenings, and after happy hour it was off to jake ivory's with adam and tony and friends. well, presto's first, but then jake ivorys, which was good fun. i took the night owl bus home for the first time ever, and i can't really say how it was, because i remember nothing of it but waiting for it, and then being home.

nicktoons on saturday, followed by sloth, and then off to devlin for the bostonians and acoustics show. i hated everything about going to that show so so much, but then i got there and the show was really good. then a bunch of us had dinner at city side, then katie mike and i killed time before the party at mary ann's. Two nights in a row, i felt awful. so we sat around a bit, drank a little, and then headed to the party. party was lots of fun, yep, adam was mr. goodtimes which was pretty entertaining. katie adam and i outstayed all the bostonians, until about 3, but katie was sleeping during parts of it. We headed homed, said it'd be cool if we could hitch a ride, then a car pulled up and it was diane which was weird, and she drove us home and adam passed out in the bathroom and i watched perfect strangers.

cartoons this morning, followed by mcdonalds and buffy. god i love that show. katie and i watched two eps, second one was really great.

then i got ready to play some sweet sweet video games and tim walked in. so instead of video games we watched some gameshow network. including an episode of late 70's family feud with Richard Dawson. and the man was tanked. absolutely wasted, and i'm sure he was for all the shows, and i don't know how i ever noticed it before today.

then finally, video games, broken up by simpsons and malcolm, and now south park and insomniac. oh weird, dave attelle clean-shaven... creepy.

yay for the work week.

a casual day

ok this is dangerous. i'm in my living room now, doing the same stuff i'd do in my room but on my couch. got the network in here and am rocking the wireless keyboard and mouse.

a couple problems with the wireless: 1.) the range sucks and i hope that that is due to the batterries. secondly, the keyboard has some major mechanical stick ,which i hope is either easily fixable or just a factor of it needing to be broken in, i'd hate to have to write nasty e-mails and get a replacement rig. Even as i type i see a lot of the problem keys getting better, but who knows... it is a refurb.

seriouslyt, i'm sitting here typing this, listening to my mp3s and doing my internet things and why the hell am i not just in my room?

okyeah, this is dumb, and my awkward keyboard and the fact that i find it difficult to read the tiny text in this box because the tv isn't exactly an ideal pc monitor replacement is showing me off in a bad light.

so i'll leave on this, for some reason, the most vivde take-you-there music memories are of the summer. hot hot heat and sexual harrassment and shit from this summer, death cab and dismsmberment from two summers ago... the songs just make me really really feel like i'm there... maybe there's something about the summer weather... it's usually really hot nights where i go, and i dunno, it's rad.

yeah, good stuff.

ok now i will go to my room where i will do much of the same thing only... it's my room and not the living room.

keep trucking

well, i'm back from panama city and well, that's too bad. because it's not sunny or warm and i have responsibilities again. however, i will be spending less money and perhaps one day soon my body will forgive me for the way i treated it the past few days.

i just did some research, one gallon of water weighs 8.3 pounds. so to drink my weight, i'd need to drink approximately 20 gallons. I'm thinking over the extended weekend that occurred. and extreme amount of intake would have been thursday morning during an hour and a half of free bud ice light at la vela. i had at least 10 10oz cups, and i'd estimate nearer to 12-13 cups which would be 1 gallon. I'd need to have drunk 20 times that over the course of the weekend, which certainly did not occur. perhaps i was a bit hasty with my predictions. i still did a fai amount of binge drinking.

the trip was really a chance for me and tony and his two friends from notre dame to sit around, enjoying the fact that we were the smartest people in the whole damn state, and using a few select lines from old school in every context imaginable.

aside from that there was some drinking and club going and eating and one lovely day on the beach. but mostly using movie lines.

perhaps i will expound more on it later, but now is not the time. i am, of course, tired. and that's it, i want to go to bed and go to work and have it be weekend.

doch endlich

well, my 2 minutes of internet research described the symptoms i have in my toe, pins and needles, whiteness, eventual slight pain to the t. i have the first stages of frostbite. however, in my two minutes of internet research, i saw nothing about it being recurring, which my condition most definitely is. either way, it's not like i'm getting blisters or anything, so i'm all set.

worked all day, came home to find no playstation game, no dvd player and no computer. but there were angel DVDs, which is cool. also, both my shuttle pc and dvd player are scheduled for delivery tomorrow, but i'm also probably playing poker. making this a horrible tease. i get these boxes of fun toys, but can't play with them for nearly a week.

oh yeah, i nearly lost my lunch on the t today coming home. there was some gross high school girl, who just had terrible teeth. i'm talking a huge gap in her front two teeth, which by the way, went out in seperate directions. imagine if you will her teeth represented by the following ASCII diagram: |||/ \||| except the straight teeth you see on either side weren't spectacularly straight. anyway, she had that going for her, she was talking loudly to her not as ugly friend saying stupid things. and i'm already pretty disgusted at this point. then grossy mcpuke pulls out the mcdonalds cheeseburger. she opened up her wide chompers and tore a giant piece of burger, tore so much off that it wouldn't all fit in her mouth. then she brought it in, chewed a little, and some of it peaked out. and the vomit triggers were almost launched. but i couldn't turn away, i just stared in complete disgust.

then i came home, ate, and katie and i watched married by america. which is just shit. and not like "oh, look at how far america has sunk" there's that too, but the show is utter crap. it's embarrassing.

then we watched another awesome episode of buffy. like really awesome. like oh my god i can't believe giles is so rad he was willing to change the world not knowing a thing about what it'd be like awesome. yeah screw you too, you just don't understand.

spectacular

yikes, here i am sunday near 11, time for some half-assed accout of the days since last time i wrote.

thursday i believe is aid i went over to the mods for a beer then i'd come back for sleep. well, i got to the mods, got a beer, sat down to play kings and had far too many more. we played a good 3 or 4 games of kings and it was retarded.

friday was an absolutely terrible day at work. but then i finally got to leave and headed straight for good old mary ann's to be happy for an hour or so. usual crew slightly diminished due to early spring-breakers. had some happy, then most people left and darren jen and i stayed for another beer or 3 while darren and i had long conversations about life and god.

then we went to presto's and i had two slices of sicilian and god damn were they good.

then we left for the much talked about beer olympics that was to occur in mod 39. the beer olympics did not occur. then we thought they were going to move to gabelli. darren and i went over and met Tara there and we had our beer olympics. the first and only event was the three of us looking through photo albums. heh. I got a few calls about poker during the olympics, and when the third album was done, close to 1am or so, i jetted.

got to 14 lake, usual crew, tim and pat kenney and friends. poker was played and played and played and i left at 6am down either 10 or 20, i don't remember. fun time and just stellar that it was on a friday. i kept getting these hot flashes like "oh shit, i have to go to work tomorrow," but then i realized, hey, no i don't. and then i'd drink more whiskey.

slept till two on saturday then played video games approximately all day. around 10 i desperately wanted to watch some buffy. had the episode picked out and everything. passion, one of the real hard hitters in the incredible end of season 2 story arc. but my ps2 was fucked and my dvd player is dead. so i cried instead.

today i watched my cartoons, hit mcdonalds and compusa to buy some compressed air. got home, watched the dumb family is a sitcom show with katie, opened up my ps2 blew air all up in its shit, and then ps2 worked and buffy was watched. but not until we watched about 66% of the olsen twins in passport to paris. katie and i watched 2 episodes of buffy, and the second one was absolutely awesome. i heart spike.

then i umm, rearranged my room. i don't know why i did it, but it's done. i guess maybe it was a way to force me to clean up. i don't think my new layout is any better than the old one, but whatever. i cleaned up some crap in the 3 hour process.

tomorrow is work, which sucks, because i'm in a work funk since friday sucked. however, it's a 2.5 day work week, followed by 3 or 4 nights in panama city florida drinking my body weight in booze. and then i come home to more work, but also to new toys. lots of them. actually, i'll have my shuttle pc tomorrow, and possibly the dvd player and a new ps2 game tomorrow or tuesday. but i will not have sufficient time to setup the shuttle, let alone get it networked and let alone play my new game. then i will come back from vaca and i will have new dvd player, the ability to get the shuttle on the network, my new game, angel dvds, and a wireless keyboard and mouse. and then i will be happy with my billion new toys. yay.

fuck i need a haircut, which i don't see happening before wednesday.
