touched

i meant to write during the week, i really did, but i usually just ended up really tired or, if it was Monday, passed out at 7pm.

yeah so monday, got off work early, then as i walked to the T, randomly happened to see the leaders finish the Marathon. got back home and went to campus for lots of beer and terrible grilled food. Got home around 7, tried to watch an episode of buffy and fell asleep immediately. got to my bed at 9, slept till 1, spent 1-5 awake, and then back to sleep finally.

tuesday after work i had a $100 night at poker, which was just a spectacular change of pace.

the rest of the week i don't recall anything particularly interesting happening, save for katie and i starting season 4 of buffy and the first of angel on thursday. angel was a bit jarring because it's all dark and grown-up and stuff. but we love it just the same.

friday was bostonian final show. good stuff that. party followed, then some after party, where sean and tim had made some pact to stay up till 6 and then arbitrarily included me in on it. then the party ended a little after 3. we tried, went down to hang out in the graveyard where we ran into some other late night gravenighters who asked us for weed. tim may have knocked over a gravestone, but i'm pretty sure we found it like that.

then saturday came by, and there was much recovery and i remain severely achey and dehydrated right now. around 6 or so katie and i sat down for more buffy and angel. then obie came over and was made to sit and watch with us. good for him. we picked up mike and all went to sunset for food and beer and stuff. afterwards obie and i hit our house for a bit, and it was a solid time. then i came home and went to sleep immediately.

a delayed rise this mronign led to mcdonalds and then katie and i watching not 2 but 4 episodes of joss programming, which was just delightful. then i played pokemon and watched tv.

my nose is stuffy, adam and i pretty much committed to the apartment, so now fingers are crossed for the third man situation to work out quickly and agreeably.

hmm $211 for buffy season 5 and 6 shipped from the Uk. getting more and more tempting... yawn. to bed i go!

in about half an hour i go to the middle east for cex and postal service. and, i just found

out, certainly sir is the opener, which is certainly a welcome bit of news.

friday after work, adam greg and I went down to foxwoods. sat down at a 2/4 texas hold 'em

table and that's where we sat the whole night. well, adam and greg got up for money and i went

to pee a couple of times, but the statement still pretty much stands. poker is certainly a

smarter table to sit at that blackjack, i bought in for $100 and after my first win, never

dipped below that original. I was getting the cards big time early in the night, and often,

i'd fold, but got the cards anyway. twice early on i folded junk, 5-8, 2-3, 4-6 unsuited, and

then the straight freaking landed on the flop. and 3 times i folded and would've won with 3 of

a kind. so i could've made a lot more, but i was up $100 in not too much time. then some cold

streaks and ups and downs and whatever. wound up with $40 up, but i'm not one to just leave

with $40 up when i could turn it into hundreds, so on the way out i went and played three quick

games of catch a wave in the hopes of turning a decent profit. I did not. but i drank for

free and won seven bucks. hey hey hey, not a bad night.

got home at 5ish, caught an episode of family ties and then got to sleep. On saturday i meant

to do something productive. We'll call it "video games." However, at around 2, i noticed

saved by the bell was on. and saved by the bell refused to not be on until around 7pm. and i

watched them all. then i poked around a long while until finally settling down and watching

the abyss. great movie with a really shitty ending. but the 2.5 leading up to it is just

great. then, as it is similar-somewhat in theme, and it lends itself well to sleeping, i threw

on solaris. I think i stayed awake for even less this time than i did when i went to the

movies, and that's not saying much. I actually intended to fall asleep during it, something

about all the rain and the silence just has an eerie mood to it that i like. katie says it

sucks, but one of these days i'll actually sit down and watch it from end to end.

today i got up around 9 and got to work on my easter mobile. i don't know when it hit me, but

sometime recently i decided i needed to do something crafty to celebrate easter. So i chose a

mobile full of marshmallow depictions of the life and times of Jesus. i downgraded the project

slightly this morning. i initiall was going to include baby jesus and man jesus, but i made a

couple jesus' this morning and said screw it, and then just started with Jesus' on Good Friday.

I made four Jesus': jesus on the cross, zombie jesus, ghost jesus and easter bunny jesus. my

favorite is zombie jesus. It's when he rises from the dead, his flesh is decayed and stuff.

to make it believable, i took little bites out of the marshmallows and colored the results in

with red to simulate open wounds, and then i also burned some of it to simulate rotting flesh.

The arms are out to the front, like you would expect a zombie. GHost jesus is pretty straight

forward and represents jesus in his ascended form, just a couple marshmallows with a coffee

filter over them. and finally, easter bunny jesus, it's not really talked much about in the

bible, but read it again, it IS in there. for EBJ i just did the normal jesus, but colored it

easter colors, gave it ears and whiskers, and instead of full limbs, i just used the cotton

ends of q-tips as little paws. Oh yeah, also a fluffy tail and a cross.

The mobile is hanging in our extra room, there's a big "HAPPY EASTER" i cut out of corrugated

cardboard hanging from the center. Katie digs it.

ok, gotta get ready to leave. stupid work tomorrow, missing the big day of drinking in the

mods and what not. sucks.

the "lost entry" is apparently not so lost, and now you see how i shamelessly recycle exact sentences from myself because i'm a big loser.

cheers!

a heart without a mind

styrofoam covering the mountain goats' "snow crush killing song" yay.

ok just bought ticket for cex/postal service. you'll note the lack of an "s" there. no surprise that, really.

wow i'm a bitch for not getting a ticket for the notwist show. live styrofoam track is playing now, and i can just imagine being there live and being like "wow, cool"

hey! wtf. i just noticed that i wrote some entry that never made it up. oh well, i don't think i did much of note but talk about cex and quote some choice lines and lament how the cex as mc stuff now is fun, there's some powerful stuff on role model using only the beeps and synths and programmed beats.

damn, who knows what nuggets lay therein. don't think i did much this weekend, soem campus stuff friday then some sitting around saturday.

katie and i finished the third season of buffy, and that was spectacular. and much to katie's protests, i think i've found a new hottest scene since buffy's weird dancing with xander in "when she was bad." since jude is now being a good christian and watching the show, i'll leave out details. but i can say that while there are certain tenants i will not agree with, i can certainly now understand the appeal of the vampire lifestyle.

also, katie sux. we have 132 episodes of buffy/angel to watch before September, and today, the first real chance to watch since sunday, she just comes home, doesn't say hi or anything and just leaves buffers and angel out in the cold.

and yes, i did just say "buffers." go to hell.

hey cool. half watching this funniest gameshows crap, and they had a jeopardy! one where there were three names, and the contestant shook his head and said "i don't know, who are three people who have never been in my kitchen." obviously a cheers cliff clavin reference, i wonder if that was on the spot or if its like this thing you do and get ready for when you prep a jeopardy! appearance.

on monday, after work, mark the king of brighton took me around to some of his buildings to look at apartments. found a winner. spacious 3 bed, huge living room, big beds, beautiful hardwood floor throughout, and just super well kept up in a great great location in brookline between comm ave and beacon. adam and i just need a third person. we may just go ahead and sign anyway and hope for the best.

looks like tomorrow after work it'll be a few drinks with the work guys and then off to fox woods for poker with the poker guys. as long as i stay far far away from $25 blackjack and stick to $2/$4 hold 'em, it should be a painless evening. and if i play close cards, i might even make 10 bucks or so.

hoo boy, 9pm. time for bed!

Being Ridden

apartment hunt 2003 continues

mark, aka "the king of brighton" came in to work today and i asked what he had, and then after work he drove me around to some of the buildings he owned and showed me what's up. A winner was found. Great 3 bed in a prime location, beautiful hardwood floors throughout, place is kept up great, huge living room, nice spacious bedrooms, and more then $200 knocked off the rent. i'm ready to sign immediately. adam is ready to sign immediately. the downside is, our third, who in theory is ready to sign immediately, has been out of contact for the past week.. yikes. i would love nothign more than to be squared away with where i'm living, and this place was just a keeper.

new receptionist started today, what a shitty job that is, and what a complete hell it must be just starting. she's got a boyfriend, naturally. my extensive research has determined that nine out of ten girls have boyfriends. the other one of ten is married.

i'm so tired, i can't wait to eat my pizza then get into bed and play pokemon. i think i have what it takes to become a premier pokemon trainer, and perhaps even league champion one day.

katie and finished s3 of buffy yesterday, and i'll be damned, when those kids graduated high school i felt like i too had just gone through and completed something monumental. season 3 was just awesome. and contained a scene, which, much to katie's protest, was even hotter than buffy's disturbing dance with xander in "when she was bad." not that i want to now become a vampire and feed on people, but hey, it's a lifestyle choice i can now certainly understand.

katie and i have 132 episodes of buffy/angel to watch before september 1. with about 132 days left, this is a rather tall order and will require xtreme discipline for the two of us and perhaps a couple all day sundays. but i have faith in us. and hey, buffy changed my life, she deserves a little extra effort on my part.

pizza pizza pizza buzz buzz please hurry. chick on married by america just told the dude she loved him. that's your sign to run for the hills, bud. hurry. she just said it again. good god, they met maybe 2 weeks before this was filmed. she's got some severe emotional problems, even moreso that the emotional problems required to become part of this show.

pizza pizza pizza. grrrrrrrrrrr

hmm just sorta previewed the new cex record. tall, dark and handcuffed, the last he dropped was straight up hip-hop, and i'd be lying if parts of it weren't damn catchy and some of the lines just super rad. thie one is still cex mc'ing, but lots more of the acoustic guitar stuff hinted at back on oops. the beats are still very "dope" and hip-hop. role model was a brilliant album, but sadly it seems that it's not what cex wants to be doing with his music, and that's kind sad, because that was the shit. the rapping is fun, it's cute, and can be catchy. OOOH BUZZ BUZZ PIZZA TIME, but anyway, while lines like "y'all are silly midgets talking backwards in my presence, thought the industry would lynch me but even they can't erase-a-head filled with this ingenious" will always make me smile and the fat beats that kick in right there will make me groove, there's a genius that goes way beyond his almost always clever lyrics in the emotion he manages to pack in to his stutter drums and beeps and squelches and the like on songs like "julia walsh," "an axe for the frozen sea within her" and "rjyan kidwell's funeral."

but hah, lyrics on tall dark and handcuffed are rad. "they say i got a messiah complex, but i forgive them." "i'm the pain in the ass for which there is no preparation" "but i ain't sitting at your lunch table hating on posers, and you never catch me doing herion, coke or homework." even the less savory lines have a way of sticking out and forcing you to take notice. and that's all one song.

anyway, pizza gone, new mp3s organized, time for pokemon.

ahahaha

ok, from one of the skits on the last cex rap album, head of record label telling cex why he's gonna lose his job because cex's album sucks: "do you know why radiohead's record was so successful? they're singing about homosexuals and vicodin... you're rapping about dodgeball and bicycles."

guy has got mad charisma.

intro-inspection

ahaha lol

i finally understand why will and grace is "the best show on television!" they make a lot of gay jokes rofl. this show sucks.

and minnie driver got fat.

yesterday was work + two lawyers dinner at abe and louie's and then the gents went out afterwards for dinner and other nonsense. eventually wound down to pat and I doing the boylston/newbury bar tour. good stuff.

hey wow, i guess tomorrow is friday. maybe i actually won't go to happy hour but, i doubt it.

going to see an apartment tomorrow that by adam's telling of it is a keeper. down by packard's corner which is fun in the getting much closer to the city sense.

this osymyso track i'm listening to is just rad. 12 minutes of song intros skillfully layered and mixed and cut back and forth. just had "come on eileen" and INXS intros jumping back and forth and it sounded like one thing. rad.

consequence

i'm a bad, bad man.

on thursday, i had the ticketmaster page open, notwist ticket a click away and though "screw that, i might not be able to get down there sunday night and an additional 80% in service charges is crap." i sided on the side of spontaneity, and spontaneity fucked me. got there tonight and it was sold out. and now i'm missing styrofoam and the men responsible for 2002's perhaps-best album, because i wouldn't commit to just sucking it up and going no matter how tired or how without car i was as well as $8 in extra charges. i h8 me. also, i pooched spoon/crooked fingers for waiting too long. i sux.

this weekend brought boons of stuff. friday was happy hour, then back to 14 lake where i broke the first rule of binge drinking and stopped moving. i guess i slept for around 5 hours. got up at 3:30, walked back home turned on nickelodeon and got into bed.

I didn't really fall asleep until 8am, but i did get to see some quality programming: perfect strangers, head of the class and family ties. Then tiny toons came on and i started quarter sleeping wherein i'd be consistently freaking out because i'd be having these little vignette dreams of stuff i couldn't tell whether or not it was real.

Saturday brought some zelda then mike's birthday at golden temple then mary ann's with katie mike lori and a billion retarded girls we all hated. at about one we left and i hit 14 lake for poker where i actually managed to win $10.

sunday was of course mcdonald's and buffy, and then lots of zelda, and then my tale of woe that i opened with.

not even stevie nicks

oh no, just saw a commercial for comedy central's reality show this summer... handicap house. hahaha

anyway, today at work, rob sent one of his e-mails to all his friends that was basically "lol france sux" it had all these pictures of all the us cemetaries in france, with the number of us soldiers dead there who died defending france and then a picture of Hitler. a more serious one that the ones full of france sucks jokes. anyway, rachael wrote up a response basically saying "yeah, us defended france from a very real agression. it was reactive, it was our duty to protect. this is a pro-active war that may or may not be 100% necessary, and if france doesn't think it's a war worth fighting, let them." it was better put than that and was a very valid stance. this resulted in about 100 replies saying why france sucks.

bottom line is this: france has some very serious commercial interests with iraq, and that may or may not be the "right" thing, but if we were in a similar position there is no way in hell we'd support destroying our commercial interests. sure, saddam is a bad man and it'd be rad if we got rid of him and iraqis could live in a semi-normal country. but i seriously doubt our resolve in this, mainly because i believe gulf war 1 had similar motivations, and what happened when we "won"? the iraqis staged a revolt against their government and we exited stage right with our oil interests in kuwait secure and the revolting iraqis met quick defeat and returned to their regularly scheduled shitty way of life. maybe we'll stick it out this time, and that'd be rad, but i really don't know if that'll be the case.

anyway, i'm not at the ben folds concert right now because i was way tired and way unmotivated. Truth be told, i don't feel like i'm missing out. hopefully this attitude will desert me because April has some huge huge shows. styrofoam/notwist, crooked fingers/spoon, hot hot heat, cex/postal service, portatastic/yo la tengo, flaming lips, then schneider tm/the faint/les savy fav, d plan, and a couple others in may. if i don't make it to at least 4 or 5 of those, i'm a bad, bad man.

waiting for the T today after work i looked in to the D line that just arrived and there was this girl but oh no! she was looking at me so i looked away. then i looked back and oh no! it looked like she was still lookingn so i looked away. then i did it again and oh no! so i looked away. then the t started to move and i went back once more oh no! this time i smiled and she returned a big one. that was fun. dunno what was up, i mean my hair looked unusually good, but that's really all i got.

and now i think it's time for bed.
