self-titled: ^_^

oh well, whatever

ahahaha "that wasn't a movie, that was a snuff film." god bless southpark.

so, i've actually been busy and doing stuff for the past week or so.

Friday was the bostonians cafe, i sat through an assload of traffic but then got home and katie and i headed to devlin and watched the show. it was, well, a cappella. but the alumni got a negative review in the heights which rules. also, the heights is written by 10 year olds with down syndrome.

after the show we picked up lex and headed to cambridge to go see ad frank. but right at mass ave. jin called me to tell me that the show was sold out, which totally sucked. so instead we just went to ourhouse and played uno and then when ourhouse closed at 1 (!) we went to great scott till close. at that point, katie went home and i did lex things until the early am.

on saturday i went to the mall to buy a lot of video games including the farming simulator. then i played said farming simulator until it got later on in the night and i got super bored so i decided to go to the plan at great scott which is like saturday night indie night. i went down and saw the hero pattern play and they were sorta good insofar as that they were a band i wouldn't normally listen to. after them was favorite atomic hero, also known as the band former bostonians recording engineer dave richard heads up. they were not bad but not good. just your general punk pop shit. i left midway through the set when they played a mediocre and uneventful punk cover of flock of seagull's "i ran" (which is an incredible song). I figured they'd go nowhere but down from there so i left and hung out with katie and amy for a while ending in katie and i watching some movie with robert downey jr. also, i talked with dave richard a while and i forgot how much i liked him. also, i need to not go out to bars with live music or indie themes because scotts was wall to wall with girls that i'm unfortunately attracted to: that indie/punk girl think with tattoos and piercings and dyed hair and shit. there's really no reason for this, and yet somehow i can't look the other way.

sunday was pretty much nothing.

monday was work yay and then i went to see pretty girls make graves. now this crowd was a little different, less punk and more indie. so maybe 1/2 the girls i was really attracted to and most of them had boy haircuts and glasses... which i love. the show was fucking rad. the first band, mahjong, was what i guess would be likened to early 80's no wave, and it was, while at times jarring, pretty damn cool. the constantines were next and while i'm not way into them, it was a compelling live show. PGMG however were the freaking bee's knees. so awesome, and i so want to marry andrea zollo. also, i spent the entire pgmg set next to sunshine, who is pat from southie poker's wife. she was unbelievably wasted and did not recognize me.

also, omg south park is so funny. cartman is now dressed as hitler leading a passion of christ rally.

so yay for pretty girls make graves.

tuesday i was going to go see the bad plus with lex, but i called that mornign and they had just sold out so no crazy deconstructionist jazz for me, which sucks because i got a couple of their covers and original tracks on itunes and they were super rad. especially every breath you take. so with no concert to go to ($30 total so i guess i win) i went to tony's for poker and won $40 or $50. which is like a joke compared to the amount won and loss at southie poker, but hey it's still a fun time.

tonight was of course OC wednesday. katie is off to italy. I like when katie is gone because i get to do all sorts of crazy shit like leave my coat on the ground in the foyer and pee with the door open, it's awesome.

also, seth cohen is my hero. i'll post the picture at the end of the entry.

tomorrow night i get to go see sufjan stevens and john vanderslice. if tv on the radio wasn't sold out, i'd be there tonight. it's sick how many shows are happening this week. friday night the twilight singers are playing across the street and you better believe i'll be there. saturday is seriously the first day in a week that there hasn't been a show worth seeing.

also, it's 10:30 and i just got my ceiling SERIOUSLY pounded on and my music is hardly that load. i should play some doom and really fuck them up.

anyways. it's too bad i didn't get to see the bad plus last night, their stuff is pretty freaking rad.

ok anyway, if you have some cute chick with a boy haircut and glasse that you're holding out on me from, just stop and hook a brother up.

seth cohen would agree:

seacrest, out!

man, i don't even know what's happened since i last wrote because it's been weeks. TS came up, we hung out, oh wait, that was within the timeframe of the last episode...

well, actually, tim recame up i think, after basketball... and we went out, and lori was here and blah blah blah. bunch of other crap.

work is still going exceptionally well, and, and this is just icing on the cake, sometimes i'm driving home and think about the shit i'd have to be doing at BRW and i just get really happy. Happy to be ANYWHERE but there, who cares that i like where i'm actually at. Hell, i wake up at 7, and do so with a grin. i don't have to get there between 8 and 8:15, but why not? the whole thing is just super.

this past sunday i met tony at the avenue and we watched the sad BC game, and then played mario kart and junk until 10 when we went to see whatever the hell that jim carrey movie is... eternal sunshine of the spotless mind? ooh, i think i got it. anyway, i was expecting some stupid ass charlie kaufman wankery with jim carrey acting like a buffoon. what i got was a really superb movie, that took directions i didn't at all think from the trailer, and with a performance by jim carrey that was so restrained and excellent i can't believe it. it's the movie i've wanted him to make for years and years but thought was impossible after truman show and ever more impossible after the andy kaufman movie.

i want to go to newbury comics desperately, but i'm lazy and also have no shelf space for future cds and i'm not sure what i'm planning on doing about that.

freshman and sophomore bostonians came over a couple weeks ago for class night. the night before was the night we went out with tim and lori and stuff, but while we were waiting for tim katie and i were alone at the silhouette plotting what to do for class night. katie's contribution was balloons, my contribution was name that shot, wherein they take a shot and then have to name what it is. we took those ideas and by 8pm the next day added blindfolds and running and beer chugging and custom made t-shirts that said "Winner of Katie and Peterik's Class Night Extravagana." Then the kids came and it was a very nervewracking experience, because here they were, not sober, chugging beers and taking shots and making all these faces that suggested vomit. luckily, it was a fairly clean end result, and they all lived to see the next day.

american idol is sad. it makes me upset. the oc is new tomorrow which makes me all sorts of excited.

bostonians cafe is friday, and i guess we have to go to that. ad frank is playing though. we may try to do both, but if not he'll be back. also, broken social scene plays on saturday and pretty girls make graves on monday, i should really make an effort to at least see broken social scene, but hey, they'll be at coachella, as well as pgmg, so at least i've got that going for me. Also, wilco will be there, and and you will know us by the trail of the dead, and death cab, and the flaming lips and belle & sebastian, and the rapture and q & not u and !!! and bright eyes, and mogwai and
air and, oh yeah radiohead and the cure and the f'ing pixies.

and let's not forget howie day.

so the way i see it, if i miss ted leo & electrelane this sunday, i've got plenty of music coming up to make up for it. although i will not pass on sufjan stevens and john vanderslice next thursday.

ok, i'm tired of writing. i've been, you know, playing lots of video games and stuff that have distracted me from writing. top on this list are currently ninja gaiden on xbox which rules and i've also been playing doom. you know, the original. which is the most beautiful game in the world. a symphony of twitch violence.... i nominate it for the thing of the century.

here's a picture of a duck:

are you awake?

word up, yo.

looks like i last wrote march 2, the day after my first day at staples. well, i'm glad to say i continue to wake up each morning at 7 and drive to framingham for a job that is interesting and fun and i like almost all aspects of it. and tomorrow, i will be driving there in a new car graciously loaned to me by some random bank somewhere until i manage to pay it off within the next 5 years. yeah, so i bought a car. a mazda 3 five door, silver. looks something like this but silver. it's fun. it's got leather interior, a moonroof, a cd player, keyless entry, a clock... all things i am not used to in my honda. oh christ. i left the guardian lego dragon in the honda. i'm an idiot. i made sure everything else was removed, but the dragon stayed. i have to go to the dealership tomorrow to get real plates, maybe by some chance the accord will still be there, otherwise i will assume that the guardian died gallantly and be ok.

so aside from the car junk, which has been a nightmare since i impulsively decided to buy one last saruday, things have been going well. work is really cool, although i go to bed at like no later than 11 now because i'm super lame.

tim has been up and in and around since last saturday. katie and i went and saw mike's show and then went to meet tim, but tim never met, and in fact never picked up his cell phone or anything. so instead katie and i just went to the silhouette and drank beer and then to our house for more of the same. at our house we got a hold of tim finally, who was at the harp in faneuil hall and not 'harper's ferry' at harvard ave like i thought i heard. katie was still disappointed with him and voiced such concerns. then we walked home and had some great pizza on the way.

sunday tim did manage to come over. and spent most of the time sleeping while i watched rambo for the first time ever. rambo rules. and the movie wasn't at all about him in the jungle fighting commies and other assorted bad guys. instead it was about him in the pacific northwest fighting cops and the us army. it ruled. until rambo talked at the end, that ruled less.

on monday tim katie and i did a power hour. and then we did another.

on tuesday i went to bed early. yesterday katie and i went to see the celtics game with the last remnants of my employment at BRW. it was a cleansing experience, and would remain so if rob didn't keep calling and e-mailing me asking me how to do things.

today i bought my new car and drove it around to buy pizza and beer. and then tim and i watched survivor and then katie and i watched the donald.

tomorrow i go to work. hopefully, tim does not go back to NYC for more big east tournament fun. that way, he katie and i can go out drinking me, saving me the pain of losing money at poker and the concern of taking my new car to either southie or chinatown. last week i took tony to the southie game. he won like $400... i did not.

uhoh! 10:30! what am i still doing up?

end radio silence

well, there obviously was a problem with the old host. they said i didn't pay bills. the reality of it was that they were sending the e-mails saying "omg the card we have on file is expired" to a dead e-mail account... instead of the account that gets daily activity on their mail servers... genius.

so i'm back in action with a new host and more amenities, although i still can't install and use bitchx with my shell access. oh well, thank god for port 13.

there probably are a number of kinks remaining with the site, since the cgi stuff got all screwed up on the transfer. oh well.

i spent last week not working and instead watching tv and playing video games, leaving the house only to purchase more video games. it was fun, i wasn't nearly as productive as i had hoped.

on tuesday i saw triplets of belleville with john and dimitrios, and it was splendidly bizarre. i however missed the song, which was like the one thing i really really wanted to see. c'est la vie.

on friday katie and i went to see the jesus movie, but it was insane and sold out and full of candle wielding asians. so instead i played poker, and i had a good time.

saturday i... played video games? yeah. until katie and i went again to see jesus on the big screen.

the movie sucked. jesus is an awesome dude, who said and did wonderful and amazing things. by watching this movie however, you would not be aware of such things. what you would be aware of however, is that jesus got brutally beaten. a lot. like really badly.

aside from some wonderfully done beating, the movie was completely lacking. lacking of a good story, lacking of good characters, lacking of emotion, lacking of coherence, lacking of anything that may provoke thought. but it had a lot of beating.

see, i'm all for a good jesus movie. we watched the last temptation of christ the following day, which is a very spiritual movie, but it's also a good movie, and doesn't rely on brutality to get its point across. and even if it did rely on brutality to get its point across, at least its point wouldn't simply be brutality. so i'm all for jesus and his teachings and his sacrifice. mel gibson however apparently is not, and decided to take his money and his considerable star power to create a piece of base propoganda. watch this, see the chunks of flesh ripped out of our lord... those chunks of flesh were so you could live! do you remember braveheart? i made that movie and you love it! you love it like you should love christ because of the severe beating he received. and now, in my new movie, the severe beating of christ, you to can see what william wallace knew all along: you should be a better christian because jesus had chunks of his flesh ripped out.

and from the movie, that's the only reason. As Katie mentioned, the passion of christ is little more than a movie to show in catechism. and she's right, it's nothing but a standard christian training video. except most of the videos i saw in CCD actually taught me something of value.

in summation: fuck you mel gibson i hope you die.

the oscars were super boring and i missed jack black and will ferrel.

i work at staples now, it's really cool. i think i like where i work, who i work with, and more importantly what i do. and the 30 minute drive affords me a chance to listen to howard in the morning and actually listen to music on the ride home. and now i will get back to organizing music so i have fun new things to listen to tomorrow. i'll call it the new modest mouse album.

end transmission.
